How to Enable Battery Saver On Your Chromebook

Google recently added a battery saver mode to Chrome OS. It is still under development. However, following the Chrome Story tradition of bringing this early, here is how to enable the battery saver.

Note: Battery saver is a work-in-progress feature and is available on the Dev channel.

To enable battery saver mode:

  1. Open the Settings app from the menu.Chromebook Settings App in Menu
  2. From the left pane, select Device.Chromebook Device Settings
  3. On the Device page, select Power.Chromebook Settings - Power
  4. Enable the Battery Saver toggle.Chromebook Battery Saver Toggle

You have now enabled the Chromebook battery-saver mode. I would love to see this as a quick toggle available in the notification area. Also, a new icon or an updated battery icon to show the battery saver is enabled will be welcome too.

What do you think? Ready to take this for a spin?

Interesting, the long battery life is one of the reasons I got a Chromebook. It would be cool if this can make it better without sacrificing too much performance
