Make DuckDuckGo The Default Search Engine in Google Chrome

The default search engine on Chrome is Google. You can change this anytime you want to search engine of your choice. For many, this is Duckduckgo. In this article, we will explore how to use Duckduckgo with Chrome and more.

What is Duckduckgo

If you have never heard of Duckduckgo, (DDG) is an internet search engine. It is not a web browser like Google Chrome. However, DDG or duck or goose search engine as some would love to call it prides itself in giving users’ privacy more importance. It also does not profile its visitors to provide customized results.

According to Gabriel Weinberg, creator of DuckDuckGo, “By default, DuckDuckGo does not collect or share personal information. That is our privacy policy in a nutshell.”

Make Duckduckgo Default Search Engine on Chrome

Google has made it easy to use Duckduckgo as the default search engine on Chrome. Here is how to do this:

  1. Click the three dots settings icon on the top-right corner of Chrome.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. From the left pane, click Search Engine.
  4. From the Search engine used in the address bar dropdown, select Duckduckgo.

You can make DuckDuckGo your default browser on Chrome for Android too. To do this:
