The first thing that I do on any new Windows 10 computer is this; download and make Google Chrome your default browser on Windows 10. Your browser is one of the most used apps on your computer. That should be why we all go to the download page for our favorite browser, as soon as we get a new computer set up. If your favorite browser is different from what you get with your computer, this is when you change it as well. In my case, it is Google Chrome. I am assuming that it is the same with you, and that is why you are reading this article (hello there!).
Make Chrome Default Browser on Windows 10
Let me show you how to change your default browser on Windows 10 to Chrome. If you are on Windows 10 S, Google Chrome is not available for your computer yet. It is easy to make Google Chrome your default browser on Windows 10.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8 or 8.1, it changes your default browser to the new Edge browser. If you had Chrome or Mozilla Firefox before upgrade, you will see that Microsoft’s new brand new browser, Edge, will be your default browser after the upgrade.
Follow these steps:
- From the Start menu, go to Settings > System.
- Scroll down to Web browser and click the + sign.
- Choose Google Chrome from the list.
Hope you have set Google Chrome as your default browser now. If you need additional information, here is Microsoft’s official article about changing default browsers.
After using Chrome on Windows 10, if you want to switch back to Edge, or any other browser, you can do it using the same method explained here. In the last step, select your new browser and make it the default app.
Change It From Chrome Settings
You can change your default browser from within Google Chrome Settings too. Here is how to do it:
- Go to settings on Chrome, (click settings icon or open chrome://settings)
- Search for “Default Browser”
- Click “Make Chrome my default browser”
- And you are done!
That’s another easy method, isn’t it? Questions? Drop me a comment and we can discuss this together and find answers.
