Chromebooks Getting Bluetooth Battery Indicators

June 30, 2019 by Dinsan Francis Updated on: 11:27 am Leave a Comment

Following Android’s suit, Chrome OS also will start showing battery indicators for connected Bluetooth devices. This will be useful for all those wireless keyboards and headphones that you connect to your Chromebook.

This is currently a work-in-progress available in the Canary channel behind a flag. You can enable this flag to test this feature:

Show Bluetooth device battery

Enables showing the battery level of connected and supported Bluetooth devices in the System Tray and Settings UI. – Chrome OS Show Bluetooth device battery

I enabled this flag, restarted my Chromebook and connected my Anker headphones. However, I couldn’t see the battery percentage under Settings or system tray. Maybe this was not a supported device, or things are still in the early stages of development.

If you are on Beta channel of Chrome OS, look forward to this flag in one of the upcoming updates and I am sure there will be a working version of the battery indicator in Beta soon.

Hope I made someone happy with this little tidbit of news!
