Google is preparing a new page, chrome://os-settings to host Chrome OS settings, leaving a few Chrome browser options behind.
I had posted something about it back in 2018, however, I was mistaken. That change was only a structural change within the code. What I noticed today seems to be lightly different.
I am able to say this with confidence because the bug associated with this change makes it really clear:
Issue 950007: ChromeOS settings should be split between browser/OS
The code change request also has a clear message:
CrOS SplitSettings: Hide browser sections in chrome://os-settings/
Use pageVisibility to hide sections like autofill, show bookmarks bar,
Here are screenshots from the regular settings and the Chrome OS settings pages to compare:
Are we going to see these changes externally, as two separate apps? I doubt that.
What do you think ?
