Long Press Back Button to See Tab History – Works in Chrome Canary

Google Chrome for Android is testing a new gesture to navigate browsing history of individual tabs.

In the latest version of Google Chrome Canary for Android, you can long press the back icon to see a list of previous pages visited from that tab. Touch any of them to go back that page.

You can use the regular single tap on the back button to go back to the previous page. However, after visiting a few pages using the same tab, if you want to go back to one of the older tabs, this gesture will come handy.

This was spotted by XDA back in July as a code commit. The latest Canary version of Chrome for Android has this feature enabled by default.

If everything goes according to (Chrome team’s) plan, this feature should be on your Google Chrome version in a few weeks.
