Chrome Tests “Query in Omnibox”, Hides Search URL

Google Chrome has a new flag that hides the search URL in the omnibox. I couldn’t get this working on my Chromebook, but this seems to be working on my Android phone.

The Flag

Name: Query in Omnibox

Description: Only display query terms in the omnibox when viewing a search results page. – Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, Android

URL: chrome://flags/#enable-query-in-omnibox

When enabled, this hides the search string in the omnibox and shows only the keyword that you entered into Google.

Here is a before-and-after comparison:

This is a subtle change, but when I look at it, the new design is much better and cleaner. Reminds me of Chrome started hiding the http part of web addresses.
