Surprise, yet another Android-like feature coming to Chrome OS. The latest version of Canary channel for Chrome OS added this flag:
Enable overview swipe to close.
Enables closing of items in overview mode by dragging or flinging vertically. – Chrome OS
I enabled this flag, but could not make it work. It is possible that this is still getting ready (this is Canary that we are talking about friends!). It is also possible that this works only when other flags are enabled. I will test more.
This will take Chrome OS one more step closer to the Android-like experience. I will test more after I am done watching the Google I/O keynote! Stay tuned!
Update: I enabled the other overview mode related flags and tried again, no luck. Hopefully, we will see this working in one of the upcoming Dev channel releases. Keep an eye out for this flag!
Update 2 – It works!
Turns out this feature works only in Tablet mode. I put my Pixelbook into Tablet mode and tried again. Swiping vertically to close open windows and apps works!
