Last week I wrote about Chrome for Android preparing to experiment a vertical tab switching UI. This feature is currently available on Chrome for Android Canary version. I enabled the flag and restarted Chrome.

See how the close button moved to the left? Let me (try to) explain why this could be. Here is how Chrome’s tab switcher looks like now:
Now, here is the new tab switcher.
You cannot have the close button on the right side with this UI.
I think this new UI is intended to make Chrome for Android more tablet friendly. In any case, this new behavior will come only if they go ahead with the vertical tab switcher plan.
