Tamagotchi is now available on Google Chrome as a new tab extension. It wants to help you be more productive by reducing distractions on your browser. Fewer tabs = happy Tabagotchi (a play on the word Tamagotchi, with Tab!) . More tabs = angry Tabagotchi.
Tamagotchi is a digital pet that was popular in the 90s. It was a small digital device with a screen, where you hosted your digital pet. Players cared for this digital pet by feeding it regularly and making it happy.
On the Chrome version of this game, you make your pet by opening fewer Chrome tabs. The assumption here is, fewer tabs = less distractions, which means better productivity. For each hour you spend browsing with five tabs or less, you’ll get one step closer to evolving your Tamagotchi to a higher form.
I remember reading about this digital pet when I was in school, but I was never fortunate enough to play this game. If you have memories of playing this game, I am sure you would appreciate this cute new tab page based gamification of productivity.
