Channel 5 Launches My5 on Chromecast

Channel 5’s on demand service, My5 has been added to Chromecast. Channel 5 is a free-to-air broadcasting channel owned by Viacom based at UK.

Viewers will be able to stream content from My5 service from the phones or tablets to their TVs via Chromecast dongle, Google media streaming device. Channel 5 has a good number of interesting channels like 5Star, 5USA  and Spike. They have a line up of shows like Celebrity Big Brother, The X-Files, The Yorkshire Vet and Gotham, to Lip Sync Battle UK and GPs: Behind Closed Doors. These can now be watched on the big screen.

Edward Kenney, Head of Chromecast Partnerships, UK at Google said: “Channel 5 has built a great VOD offering, and with Google Chromecast, viewers can stream everything they love from My5 to the big screen, directly from their phone or tablet. Users will be delighted with the addition of My5 to the broad list of services already available on Chromecast.”

According to James Tatam, director of digital media and commercial development for Channel 5, the new announcement builds My5’s position as the most widely distributed commercial broadcaster VOD service in the UK. Utilizing Chromecast to broaden out My5’s reach and availability gives viewers more choice and flexibility when it comes to enjoying their favorite content.
