The new feature, suggested articles on the new tab page, is not something that all Pocket users appreciated.
Pocket is a place where you save articles to read later. The app was initially called “Read It Later”. Now that they have become the leader in this game, Pocket wants to expand and become the place where you explore and find more content to read. A digg.com for serious reading.
Pocket recently launched “Explore“, a place where users can find more popular content on topics they like. Along with this, Pocket added the new Chrome feature, suggested articles on Chrome’s new tab page.
Now when you open a new tab on Chrome, you’ll see 3 must-read stories that are worth checking out right now or saving to Pocket for later. They’re curated from the millions of items being saved every day so you know they’re going to be good, and the best part is, you don’t have to do do any digging yourself!
Disabling Pocket’s Article Suggestions
I have decided to try this out for few weeks. However, if you are looking for a way to disable this, open up the extension’s options and clear the “Show stories and topics in my new tab” box.
If you have the Pocket icon on your toolbar, right click that and choose Options. Or, go to chrome://extensions and find Options link under “Pocket”.
Next time you open the new tab page, these article recommendations from Pocket will not be there.
Hope you find this useful!
