Momocast is a new iOS extension that allows you to cast a Safari tab to your Chromecast.
If you are new to iOS, or are a possible convert, you may not know what an iOS extension is, or how it’s different from an iOS app.
This is how Apple describes extensions to their developers:
App extensions give users access to your app’s functionality and content throughout iOS and OS X. For example, your app can now appear as a widget on the Today screen, add new buttons in the Action sheet, offer photo filters within the Photos app, or display a new system-wide custom keyboard. Use extensions to place the power of your app wherever your users need it most.
What does that mean for you? It means your apps can do more stuff now.
The extension I would like to talk about today is called Momocast.
Momocast is free if you’re OK with ads, and $1.99 if you’re not.
It’s also really easy to setup and use. Once you’ve downloaded it from the App Store, open Safari and open a website. Then, tap the share button, and scroll to the end of the second row of options. Tap More and enable Momocast. Then go back to Safari, tap the share button again, and enable Cast with Momocast. Now you’ll see the familiar Google cast button. Tap that, select the Chromecast you want to cast to, and enjoy.
