How to Enable or Disable Facebook Notifications on Chrome

Is Facebook sending you notifications while in Chrome on your computer or on Android? This guide will help you disable those notifications (or enable notifications if that’s what you want!).

Chrome Push Notifications

From version 42, websites can send Push Notifications with user permission. Several websites including eBay, Facebook, Pinterest, and Vice News now send push notifications to users.

Push Notifications allow websites to behave more like regular mobile or desktop apps. You will be familiar with the notifications Facebook sends you if you have installed their application. This ability to send user specific notifications used to be an apps only feature. With Push Notifications Google wants to bring this feature to regular websites as well, making modern websites run more app like.

Here is a demo:

Enable or Disable Notifications

To enable notifications:

  1. On Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy > Content. (or open chrome://settings/content on a new tab)
