If you are a Windows 10 users using Bing, try searching for Chrome or Firefox. You will most likely see an message encouraging you to check out Microsoft’s new browser Edge. A “Learn why” button next to that message brings you to a website showing off Edge’s features.
This message shows up only the first time you search for Chrome or Firefox. So, the idea here is to ask you to try Edge when you are looking for a non-Microsoft browser. According to reports, this experience is available only in the US (the link shows me “not available” here in India).
I am a huge Chrome fan and biased towards the browser. However, this post is not to complain about what Microsoft is doing there. Every company that makes a browser wants theirs to be your default. Even Google does this kind of marketing to promote Chrome! Firefox got really angry when Windows 10 changed users’ default browser settings.
So, if you see a Learn Why link while searching for Chrome from Windows 10, you now know why!
