Chrome For Android Tip – Long Tap On Images to See Alternative Text

Last Updated on:

Google Chrome for Android is making it easier to view alternative text on images (for those who really want to see them). This feature has already landed in the Dev channel of Chrome for Android. When you long-tap on any image, the alternative text (or alt text) is also displayed.

Alt text is what the browsers are supposed to display when it fails to load the image itself. These descriptions also help search engines, providing more context to the image which allows them to index them better.

So, there you have it. Next time you want to see alt text while mobile, just long tap on image. For others, if you see some random text when you long tap to save an image, you now know what it is!
