The Chrome OS team is experimenting with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 board, says François Beaufort. Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor powers the Samsung Galaxy S4 or HTC One M7 smartphones and it is not a costly piece of hardware.
While ARM chips are not new to Chrome OS, this board is special. This board was not put together by the Chrome OS team. Instead, they are using the IFC6410 single-board computer which is also used for some interesting projects like this one here, a robot:
I am not suggesting that there is something going on between robots and Chrome OS. This is just an interesting fact that I wanted to share with you all.
When the code is ready, you can buy one of those boards and install Chromium OS on it and use it for one of your hobby/experimental projects. Or will there be any Chrome OS device coming out with this board or chip inside?
We will have to wait!
