You Can Now Connect Android Phones to Your Chromebook to Transfer Files

Google has pushed a Chrome OS update with a VERY useful feature. You can now connect your Android phones and tablets to transfer files and folders easily.

“MTP support in the Files app – you can now plug in your Android phone and get files from it”

Note: This update covers Chromebooks only. Chromebox owners will have to wait for the next update I guess!

This feature showed up on Chrome OS developer channel a few months back. Looks like the team had a lot to do to get this feature fully working and pushed to the stable channel.

The process is simple and easy. Connect your Android phone or tablet using USB, and the Files app will show the device as a new tab on the sidebar.  Here is how it looks like:
