Google, Here is One More Chromecast Root Exploit for You to Fix

A group of hardware hackers (fail0verflowTeam Eureka and GTVHacker) have  discovered a vulnerability in the latest Chromecast software, and developed a way to exploit it and give you root access. 

The team’s calling it “HubCap,” and it works on both newly updated and brand new, fresh-out-the-box Chromecasts. Once you have root access, you can modify the Chromecast as you wish, and even turn off the auto update. 

Here is a video demo of the hack, using an extra piece of hardware, a USB development board called Teensy:
