Stream Your Videos from Google Drive to Chromecast – Coming Soon

Google Drive currently supports sending your presentations to Chromecast. But Coralie Campobasso noticed something cool today on her Google Drive account. While previewing Google Drive videos, a Chromecast icon on the corner, just like the Youtube video player.

This is new. And exciting – Chromecast support for videos is coming to Google Drive.

This feature is, of course, work-in-progress for now, and the actual streaming does not work yet. When you click the icon a YouTube “ready to cast” screen appears on the TV, but nothing more than that.

When this is ready, you will be able to cast videos from your Google Drive account just like you do with Youtube videos, directly from the cloud. So, get ready for an awesome Chromecast update soon, and yes, start uploading your videos to Google Drive.

PS: Here is a list of Chromecast supported Content Providers.
