After a couple of leaks the other day, Samsung Chromebook 2 is now official. This is one of those days when I feel excited about those new devices, and feel low about my blog, because I cannot get my hands on them to give you a more personal opinion. Anyways, let’s take a look at this new Chromie.
Samsung Chromebook 2 looks much like the Series 9 Windows laptops from Samsung, with the faux-leather back borrowed from Galaxy Note 3. The leather back is more evident here, because we are talking about big laptops here, not smartphones or tablets. So, if you like things in leather, you are going to love this even more, and for those who hate, it will be tough to stand that shining leather lid.
There are two variants of this new Chromebook (yes, we already know that.) But here is the most interesting part. Both of them have 4GB RAM, and the 13.3″ variant has a 2.1GHz ARM processor. This is not your regular ARMbook.

The 13.3″ model also has a better screen and promises additional half our battery life compared to the other model. But yes, it weights a little more, 3.09 pounds as opposed to 2.43 pounds.
Available from April, the 11.6-inch Samsung Chromebook 2 will be available for an MSRP of $319.99, while the 13.3-inch model is $399.99.
Is it a good price? It sounds more like it, but I know many who were waiting for a mid range Chromebook, replacing the Series 5 550, with Haswell chip and a good amount of RAM. For them, this is a slight disappointment. But, we will have to wait for benchmarks and real world performance reviews before we can say if the 13.3 Chromebook 2 is a good mid range Chromebook replacement that we are all waiting for.
