Chrome for iOS Gets “Conversational Search”

Google has updated Chrome for iOS to 29.0.1547.11 . (Just read 29 and ignore the rest of it!). This update brings a few new features, and the most important one is “Conversational Search”

Update: This update also brings support for WebP, Google’s own image format.

Conversational Search

If you want to know what it is, just watches this video:

Chrome release notes call this feature “Voice search with pronoun support”. I prefer “Conversational Search” because that is a more non-technical name for that feature. Moreover, it feels like you are in a conversation with the device.

And here is the complete list of new features coming to Chrome for iOS v.29:

  • Get back to your Search Results faster
    • Do a search and click a result. Not what you wanted? Now when you hit back, your search results will instantly appear, ready for you to choose the next one.
  • Data cost savings enhancements
    • View your data savings in Bandwidth Management Settings.
    • Please Note: This feature is being rolled out incrementally and will be available to all users over time.
  • Voice search pronoun support improvements to Single Sign-On with other Google Apps
    • Try queries like: “Who is the president of the United States?” followed by “Who is his wife?”
  • Stability/security improvements and bug fixes
