I love this. The first post of 2013 on Chrome Story is about a new Chrome OS device that showed up the other day. Thank you Ian Cummings and ChromeUp. He said he bought it from PC World in Bristol, UK.
Ian Cummings shared a few photos of his new Chromebox to the Chromebooks Community on Google+ today. It looked different from the other Chromeboxes that we have seen. This one is white, and the material and the design are different. Specs looked different too.
The New White Samsung Chromebox – Specs
Here is how the specs appear on the back of the packaging.
- XE300M22 – B01UK
- OS: Chrome OS
- CPU: Intel Celeron B840
- LCD: None
- VRAM: Shared
- MEMORY: 4GB (DDR3 1333MHz/2G*2)
- HDD: SSD 16GB
- WIRED: 1Gb LAN
- COMMUNIC: 802.11 abg/n (2×2) + BT 3.0
- COLOR: White
It’s also important to note the lack of an Intel i5 processor, and that the bottom of the device has no holes for mounting the unit on the backside of a monitor. Even the available ports on the back of the unit appears to perfectly line up with the port placement on the current generation unit. Chrome Up writes.
So, this must be a repackaging of the existing Chromebox, with no significant change at the core. Anyways, I liked the design of this new Chromebox. It looks better than the other one, but I am sure some of you will disagree with me.
What do you think? Which design is better?
