Chromium OS on Nexus 7 – So When Can We Dual Boot Hexxeh?

An Android tablet running Chromium OS? Looks like hexxeh is cooking up something for us. He is not giving much info there and we are free to do all the guessing and dreaming around this tablet and Chromium OS. Here is all he has for us.

It’s been too long since I’ve cracked out the Jolt and spent the wee hours hacking away on something. So tonight, I picked up a device from my collection and did the inevitable:

More details soon to a tech blog near you. Image release date? Whenever I get around to neatening this up for widespread consumption. Mad props to the Queen for that extra hour tonight, really handy as I’m sure you’ll all agree.

But he left something there to confirm that it is indeed a Nexus 7. The file name of that picture was nexus7cros. So, the next question is, when can we get our hands on this and Can we dual boot this with Chrome OS and Android?

So, whats your question for Hexxeh?

This is just an unofficial Chromium OS mode from the guy who brought Chromium OS to masses even before Google launched their cr48 Chromebook. But this still makes us excited about all the possibilities of Chrome OS and imagine how cool it will be to have a device that can dual boot Android and Chrome OS.

Do you think we will see such devices from anyone soon?

I remember seeing Acer netbooks dual booting Android and Windows. That did not do well in the market, but Chrome OS and Android seems to be a cool combination for a tablet – netbook hybrid device. Boot Android and use it as a tablet, boot Chrome OS to use it as a Chromebook!

So, who is ready for some fun time with their Nexux 7? Asus has promised the device to be in India in November which is just a few days away. I am tempted!!

Dinsan made Google Chrome his default browser within hours of its release. He fell in love with Chromebooks from the day he first touched one and is currently obsessed with Chromecasts.

Well, Android and Chrome OS will merge into one I think. But android 4.0+ with google chrome gives you Chrome OS with a big app store. So why use Chrome OS, besides that is looks cool.
