10 New Features Coming To Your Chromebook

Chrome OS gets new features every now and then. May be this is why Google loves to call them The Always New Computer. So what’s coming to your Chromebooks this season?

Read on to find out!

1. Muting audio and dimming brightness directly from the Ash Tray

Soon, you will be able to mute audio and control the screen brightness from the Ash Try. Here is how this feature will look like on your Chromebnook.

2. Sync Google Contacts to Chromebook

Ever thought about that? Sync Google Contacts to Chromebook?. Chrome OS team is working on getting your contacts synced to Chromebooks and Chromeboxes. A lot of extensions and apps can make use of this to provide additional functionality. Can you think of one?

3. A new Animated Chrome OS Logo

Here it is!

4. Animated Avatars

A little bit of fun stuff. Chrome OS will soon support animated avatar images! You’ll soon be able to record a small clip (webm file) of yourself instead of a picture to identify yourself in your Chromebook 😉

5. Change the Default App for Files

Works similar to changing default application on Windows. Imagine this; you have installed a app/extension that can handle documents and spreadsheets. You want that app to open your doc/spreadsheet files, and not the Chrome OS or Google Docs to open it, this is what you will need!

Coming soon to your Chromebooks!

6. Audio via USB  and Bluetooth

This is in the planning stage for now. We got some mock-ups to share.

7. New Features for Dev Tools

8. Beaglebone Support

9.  Boot Ubuntu from USB

10. Fix that Cheezburger icon!!!!!!!!!!!

Which one is your favorite?

Thanks François Beaufort and Pedram Jabbari for inputs!!
