Open Links from Mobile Safari on Chrome – iPhone & iPad Trick

You can download and install Chrome for iOS on your iPhone or iPad. But you can not make it your default browser unless your have jailbroken your device. If your device is jailbroken, here is a method to make Chrome default browser on iOS.

Here is a trick that will help user who does not have a jailbroken device.

You can add a bookmarklet on the Safari browser to make any page open in Chrome. Create a bookmarklet with a small piece of code given below. When you have a page open in Safari, touch this bookmarklet to open the same page in Google Chrome for iPhone and iPad.

Add ‘Open in Chrome’ Bookmarklet

  1. Copy the following bit of code.javascript:location.href=”googlechrome”+location.href.substring(4); 
  2. Bookmark this page.
  3. Open the Safari bookmarks, click “edit”, and edit the new bookmark.
  4. Rename it to “Open in Chrome” or something like that.
  5. Delete the URL that’s there and paste in the above code.
