Google Ships CR48s Again ?

Looks like Google had a few more CR48s left in their store. Scott, a reddit user reported couple of days back that 5 months after he applied for CR48 pilot program, Google surprised him with this awesome gift.

Yes, this is after we heard from Mr. Sundar Pichai that they have stopped CR48 shipping and that was long back.

“I got a surprise package in the mail today, opened it and found a brand new chromeOS netbook from Google! Any one else getting these after signing up for the program 5+ months ago?”  he posted on reddit. Soon another reddit user posted in his response that he got one too !

Didn’t google surprise you and confuse at the same time ? I do not believe that they are starting the pilot program again. It doesn’t make sense at all after commercial devices are announced and awaited in couple of weeks. Their partners will not be happy about this too.  Okay, let’s believe that they had a few devices left and had to use it somehow. Why not use it internally ?

Do you think this was a good move ? Let me know your thoughts !!

It came with close to zero communication from Google. Not that I am complaining. I LOVE this thing and I have only had it for 24 hours.

Just got one today too. nice. Never expected to be picked.

But really, it is just a Chrome browser. not sure if it will replace my windows laptop from work or my ipad for leisure.

Chris, a CR-48 is not JUST a Chrome browser!!! It’s a Chrome OS, too! Use it more and you’ll start to love it more and more!!! Yes, I still use my Windows desktop and laptop, but it gets OLD real fast, when I got to do all that maintenance crap! Consider yourself VERY LUCKY to have received the CR-48, at this stage of the “game”. The “pilot” program is nearing its end, as June 15th approaches quickly, and the new Chromebooks will be available to the general public” for a price.
