Copy and Paste Images into Gmail with Google Chrome

April 8, 2011 by Dinsan Francis Updated on: 8:47 am 11 Comments

Most of us start using Outlook for email as part of our first job. I started my career with a company which lives on Linux, completely, which I feel was really great experience for me.

Copy Paste Image To Gmail

I started using Outlook for email only on my third job, and one thing that I found interesting is the fact that I can copy and paste an image in to the body of the email, showing it inline, instead of an attachment. I will need  few more steps if I have to have an image inside my gmail in the same way.

Not anymore.

If you are using Google Chrome and Gmail, try copy pasting an image from a web page into the body of your email and you will have it there, inline. CTRL + C and CTRL + V also works !

btw, you can do this on firefox too, but its not really stable yet. Chrome works great with this gmail feature.

This works with Gmail in Chrome… but it also works with:

Yahoo Mail, AOL Mail, and Hotmail… I’m sure if I try more it would work also.

I think this is more of a Chrome feature than a Gmail feature 😉

Is there a way to paste any image which has been copied to the clipboard (on linux, windows, and mac)? The pasting you describe only seems to work when you copy an image that you’re currently viewing in chrome.
