We know how to change the channel from stable to beta and dev builds on Google Chrome, the browser. Now, here is how to change it on your Chromebook.
Change to Dev and Beta Channels in Chrome OS
Before you start, let me tell you this. When you change channel on your Chromebook, you will have to do a Powerwash. Powerwash will erase all the data stored locally on your Chromebook.
- Go to your Chromebook’s Settings > Help and click the More Info link.
- Click Change Channel
- Pick your new channel
- Click Change channel and Powerwash
Chromebook will now download the updates to your new channel and install it. After the install and powerwash, Chromebook will restart once, and you will be all set.
We Trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:
#1) Respect the privacy of others.
#2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility.
Change Chromebook Channel Using Terminal

The command to change channel is channel_change
