Google Chrome To Add “Translation Bar” – Built in Translation

When I knew that Google do not have plans to add its popular Google Tool Bar to Chrome, I had a doubt that they are going to add most of it’s features in to Google Chrome by default, or “Built in”.

Recently, I got another sign of it, when I found ” Translation Bar” in the latest dev build that I am using ( yep,  I am using the developer version, to bring you the latest to you chrome news Google Chrome To Add Translation Bar Built in Translation ).  When you open a website, in a language other than your default language, the translation bar will popup on the top, suggesting you to view the translated version of the page.

You may get this even if a part of the website is in a different language. You can close the translation bar clicking on “X” icon on it. However, I am yet to find an option to disable the translation bar for the entire browser. But yes, this is still bring developed, and we will soon see those options.

Yes, I think I have used the correct word, “SEXY” … you will know when you look at screenshots. You can’t ignore these screenshots from the dev version that I am using, and mind you, this is the best part of using google chrome dev version, I can show you the latest, with screenshots, even before they are ready, for the rest of the world, you are lucky !!  ( If you want to see more posts like this, simply subscribe to RSS or via email. )

When Google chrome was introduced few months back, people didn’t quite like the new tab pages showing most visited websites. There was no option to edit thumbnails displayed there. Then they introduced thumbnails editing and removing … now, the new tab page has become sexy, you will no longer want to remove that.

You can

  • Hide Thumbnails
  • Show them as a list instead of thumbnails
  • Hide Recent Activities ( tabs you closed recently, your last session )
  • Hide Recommendations
  • Drag and Drop thumnails and re order them the way you want !

Now, that’s more freedom, isn’t it ? Apart from making the new tab pages more user friendly and useful, the looks have improved a lot, and now looks really soft on eyes. I really love to see if this has happened on linux version too, but unfortunately, my linux laptop died recently, and I should take it to the service center, and once that’s back, I will have news for Linux people also.

New Beta Release for Google Chrome !!

Google released a new beta for Google Chrome. They have added the beta channel back, for some feedback,  since the new release has some important features added to it.

The best thing about this new beta is speed — it’s 25% faster on our V8 benchmark and 35% faster on the Sunspider benchmark than the current stable channel version and almost twice as fast when compared to our original beta version.

Some of the new features you can try out include form autofill, full page zoom and autoscroll(both thanks to a new version of WebKit), and a cool new way to drag tabs out to get a side-by-side view.
