“Blog This” is a Google Chrome Extension from the Blogger team which helps you post to your blogspot blog from Chrome, with a single click.
Click the button to open Blogger in a new application window. The new post is pre-populated with a link to the web page you’re on, as well as any text you’ve highlighted on that page.
This will be really helpful for anyone using blogspot to blog from. Well, me being a wordpress fan, should look for a new wordpress “blog this” extension ?
Install the extension from here
Yes, it’s almost there. Google Chrome themes official themes gallery page is being set up. We will see it going online very soon. I got really excited when I saw this news on Techcrunch. Why ? you know that I love everything about Google Chrome, right ?
Techcrunch says that they found the theme gallery while deleting some thumbnails from the new sexy new tab page. Well, I did try that on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Ubuntu, and I can also confirm that this is true. So, What’s the URl where you find this new theme gallery for Chrome ? Go here. You will see a 404 not found page there now. But, with the next dev update or stable update, you can see the gallery live.
Until now, installing new theme or changing to the default one was really tough. You should download theme theme file, and place it inside a particular folder, and then try to change it etc. But, when the new theme gallery is live, you will see new themes being installed and uninstalled in few mouse clicks. Plus, you get a single web page to browse a large themes database.
So, wait for the next news from me, when everything is ready, and live. Happy Google Chrome Hours for you all !!
Chrome Security
A security issue was reported on Google Chrome, which could be used for “cross-website scripting attacks”. No worries, Google has already has a new version of Chrome which fixes this issue. Here is another happy news, you don’t need to update chrome, Google Chrome will automatically update to the new version, you just need to restart it to take effect.
Here is more on the security issue.
In a blog posting, Mark Larson, Google Chrome program manager, wrote:
“An error in handling URLs with a chromehtml: protocol could allow an attacker to run scripts of his choosing on any page or enumerate files on the local disk under certain conditions.”
“If a user has Google Chrome installed, visiting an attacker-controlled web page in Internet Explorer could have caused Google Chrome to launch, open multiple tabs, and load scripts that run after navigating to a URL of the attacker’s choice. Such an attack only works if Chrome is not already running.”
Now, just double check to make sure that your Google Chrome installation is up to date, and feel safe ! If you do not know how to check if Google Chrome version is up to date, here is ChromeStory’s post on this. Questions ? Drop me a comment !!
