Bookmarks

With this post, we are starting a new section on chromestory.com, the plugin news tips and reviews section. You will see more plugin/extension/addon, whatever you call it, in coming days.

Last month or so, a visitor asked me how to use Google bookmarks on google chrome instead of regular bookmarks stored on the computer. There was nothing available that time, but now, we have a plugin that will add a  bookmarks option. When I found this plugin, I tried to find the visitor who asked me this question, so that I can email the link, and I couldn’t find it. So, this is for you, whoever asked for the plugin, sorry for not saving your email address.

Before you start installing it, a warning : Installing this plugin will remove all your existing bookmarks. So, its better to backups them before installing. I have left a note to the plugin developer, to add some kind of popup or notice before deleting bookmarks.

After you install the extension, you will get another “star” symbol, on the right hand side of your address bar, next to the go/stop/reload button. You should use that button instead of your regular bookmark icon, to add it to your google bookmarks. And yea, you should be logged in to your google accounts, to save them in to your google account.

This way, your bookmarks are saved on the cloud, yes, on your google account, and whenever you need it, wherever you need it, open them using google bookmarks on any browser, and when using your chrome browser, save them quick and fast, and in a single mouse click.

PS: Since this is the first plugin post, its not fully organized. I would love to hear from you, if you need some kind of format on plugin posts, what all info you need covered etc.

Managing bookmarks, is something that makes your browser experience better. It makes easier for us to find out something on our bookmarks. Until now, this feature was not available on Google Chrome. On the Dev version that  I am testing now, this feature seems available !! So, this feature wil be added to your browsers very soon.

Here is how to do it.

Click  howto How to Reorder Bookmarks in Alphabetical Order on Google Chromeon Chrome Tool Bar.
Click “Bookmarks Manager”
Click “Organize”
Click “Reorder By Title”

Update: An easier way to access and manage your bookmarks will be opening chrome://bookmarks/ in your omnibox (address bar). This will take you to the bookmark manager.

That’s it !!
