Remember this post and this post about changing Chrome browser in to Chrome OS in just two clicks ? And yes, that page stopped working as soon as people started using it. But, we have found a save fix, thanks to OMG Ubuntu, a great blog for ubuntu users, and here it is, simple, and easy.

The Chrome OS menu is at http://welcome-cros.appspot.com/menu for now. However, if you access this page directly on Chrome browser, it will not work. So, here is the first step you need to do, make a small change to your browser settings

  • Right click on the Google Chrome Browser icon on your desktop.
  • Select “Properties”
  • Look for “Target”
  • In the  ”Target” box, after chrome.exe” put a space, and add the following line of code
  • -user-agent=”Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; CrOS i686 9.10; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/4.0.253.0 Safari/532.5″ -pinned-tab-count=1
  • Now, Click “Apply” and then “OK”
  • Now go to “Options” menu in Google Chrome settings.
  • Under “Home Page”, select ” Open This Page”
  • Enter http://welcome-cros.appspot.com/menu
  • Hit “close”
  • Restart your Chrome browser, and ROCK ON !!

uncategorized Google Chrome Adds RSS feed support, as an extension

Chrome RSS Extension

The first thing I complained about Google Chrome was the lack of RSS feed icon on the address bar.  When I am on a page, or a blog, an RSS feed icon next to the site URL is the easiest way to subscribe to the RSS feed. While using Chrome, I had to copy paste the URL of the website or blog to Google Reader, and subscribe from there.

Not anymore !

Google has introduced a new extension, which will come pre-installed in Google Chrome. The extension “adds a button to the URL bar when a page has a feed that can be subscribed to”. When you click on the orange button, the extension previews the feed and it lets you subscribe using a feed reader.

Since extensions are already working on the Development version of Google Chrome, and was recently pushed to beta versions too, we will soon see extensions working on your browser  too. Things will be more interesting with Extensions  support !

I am passionate about Google Chrome, and that’s why I started this blog. I was very much passionate about Google Android, because I thought it will become an operating system for netbooks and laptops very soon. I used to imagine how it will be, when Google releases an operating system.

Now, the story of Google Chrome has a twist. It’s going to become an operating system. It’s not Android that will see being developed as an OS for netbooks and laptops, but that’s ok, we will  still get an operating system from Google.

What is Google Chrome OS

I know that you have already read enough about google chrome operating system from various sources. Still, this post won’t be complete without mentioning what it is.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we’re already talking to partners about the project, and we’ll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.

That’s from the Official Google Blog.

Vow, it’s linux based, and I am linux fan too, okay, so I love linux, I love chrome, and I love the fact that google is building an operating system .. all this love with be expressed through chromestory.com in coming days. You will see news, and updates about the new OS, yes, chromestory.com is not just about the browser anymore …. it will be about the new operating system, news tips, and whole lot of information. And the forum ? It will be developed as Google OS Help Forum.

The Door of secrets is open … it’s time to explore more !!
