Google Chrome Extensions Gallery

Google Chrome Extensions gallery has now more than 1500 extensions ! Congratulations, Google chrome team, and all developers out there !!

Here is what an extension is, Google’s Own words ..

Extensions are little programs, created by developers, which add useful functionality to the browser and to the websites you visit. Some provide you with alerts and notifications, others let you easily access your favorite web services from icons next to your address bar, and there are lots more.

Now, a short video explaining how to use Extensions

With this post, we are starting a new section on chromestory.com, the plugin news tips and reviews section. You will see more plugin/extension/addon, whatever you call it, in coming days.

Last month or so, a visitor asked me how to use Google bookmarks on google chrome instead of regular bookmarks stored on the computer. There was nothing available that time, but now, we have a plugin that will add a  bookmarks option. When I found this plugin, I tried to find the visitor who asked me this question, so that I can email the link, and I couldn’t find it. So, this is for you, whoever asked for the plugin, sorry for not saving your email address.

Before you start installing it, a warning : Installing this plugin will remove all your existing bookmarks. So, its better to backups them before installing. I have left a note to the plugin developer, to add some kind of popup or notice before deleting bookmarks.

After you install the extension, you will get another “star” symbol, on the right hand side of your address bar, next to the go/stop/reload button. You should use that button instead of your regular bookmark icon, to add it to your google bookmarks. And yea, you should be logged in to your google accounts, to save them in to your google account.

This way, your bookmarks are saved on the cloud, yes, on your google account, and whenever you need it, wherever you need it, open them using google bookmarks on any browser, and when using your chrome browser, save them quick and fast, and in a single mouse click.

PS: Since this is the first plugin post, its not fully organized. I would love to hear from you, if you need some kind of format on plugin posts, what all info you need covered etc.

We all use Google Chrome’s address bar to start searching for something. It’s a really cool feature that saves lot of time on search based tasks. But, do you know that you can search inside any website using Google Chrome’s Addressbar ? I’ll show you how. Two really really easy methods !!

Method 1.

Type the name of the website, and you will see the right hande side of the addressbar changing as shown below, asking you to press tab, to search the website. So, press tab, ( addressbar will become as shown in second screenshot ) and continue typing.
