Hover Mouse to Activate (Focus) Windows – Coming to Chromebooks

Chrome OS will soon support “Focus Follows Mouse”. With this feature, you can select or a window my hovering mouse over it.

Focus Follows Mouse

When you have more than one window open on any operating system, you will click a window that you want to select or focus. You then go ahead and interact with it. However, operating systems like Windows 10 offers an easier method.

You can simply hover over a window to select it or bring it to focus. This feature is coming to Chrome OS as well.

When Will I Get This Feature?

I spotted this experimental flag in Chromium OS Gerrit today:

Focus follows cursor: Enable window focusing by moving the cursor.

It will take a day or two for this new flag to show up in the Canary channel. From there, you will see this flag making progress through Dev and Beta builds in coming weeks and months.

Looking at the feature request bug, there are quite a few of Chromebook users waiting for this feature. If you are one of them, be fore to come and say hello in the comments section below.

I will test this feature and share a video on Chrome Story’s YouTube channel as soon as this hits the Canary channel. Stay tuned.
