Note: This feature is available only on Chromium nightly builds now. This will be added to future versions of Chrome. So, do not panic if this is not available on your Chrome yet!
Google Chrome is getting a nice feature for those situations where you need to get everything reset. At present, you will have to uninstall and re-install Chrome to get the profile reset. If you have multiple profiles created on your computer, re-install will affect other profiles too. On a Chromebook, you get an option to do a Power wash which is similar to re-install.
This new feature lets you reset just a profile. Here is what you get to reset as of now:
– Default Search Engine
– Content Settings
– Cookie and site data
– Extensions, new tab page and themes
Those items will be reset to the default state. This is helpful when there is an extension or malware that got installed making changes to your Chrome profile and changing things here and there. Profile reset option lets you take back the control of your profile.
How To Reset Your Chrome Profile
- Go to settings and search for reset or open chrome://settings/profileSettingsReset
- Select the items you want to reset
- Click Reset
Hope this helps!
