[Extension] Better Music for Google Play Music

I have told you about switching to HTML5 playback on Google Play Music for a better experience on your Chromebook. Today, I have a really useful extension for Google Play Music users.

Better Music for Google Play Music adds a few more features to Google Play Music. You get scrobbling, toast notifications, play controls, and more.

  • Scrobbling of songs (option to turn on or off)
  • Ability to “love” the song on Last.FM
  • Google thumbs up/down
  • Desktop notifications (toasts) of song changes (option to turn off)
  • Playback controls (Play/Pause, Skip, Reverse, Shuffle, and Repeat) in a button on the browser bar
  • Persistent “miniplayer” in options panel (notifications still happen unless toggled off)
  • Playlist switching (autoplay on switch) in minplayer and popup (browser button) windows

If you have noticed, one thing I look for while going through extensions is how well they are maintained. It is not just about adding new features, but also about security and much more. This extension seems to be well maintained. So, we are good on that side.

With 61,500 users users on Chrome Web Store, this one is really winning.

Want it? Get it here.

I use this *daily*. It’s one of the most handy little extensions I keep installed. It is simple, does the job, and doesn’t slow me down.

A true “must have” for Google Music users.

Better Music doesn’t exist anymore. I loved it, too. So I started a new extension: Prime Player.
It is based on the ideas of Better Music, but it is more stable and has much more features (including support, miniplayer, toasts, keyboard shortcuts, …).
