Chrome OS To Ship with More Pre-loaded Apps

Here is one more reason for Apple to sue Google. OS  X pre-loads a bunch of apps for users to get started with the computer and the operating system easily. Google is planning to do the same.

Wait, have they patented it?

There, my share of the Apple Samsung meme. Now to the real news. The team has  putting together a list of bundled apps to ship along with Chrome OS. Here is the initial list. Note that this may change before things are finalized.

  • Camera
  • Gmail Offline
  • Calendar Offline
  • Spreadsheets
  • Docs
  • Slides
  • Google Talk
  • Calculator
  • Code Viewer
  • Pulsar

Chrome Remote Desktop Too!

Along with this, the Chrome Remote Desktop app also will be bundled with Chrome OS, adding more possibilities of connecting remotely to their Windows or Mac computers, or providing remote help for friends and family!

  1. Chrome Remote Desktop! Yea!

The more apps that run local, the more likely that “mom” will need some remote support to teach her how to use them.

I think they should bundle Google+ and Google Music as well; considering that many of the users who own Chromebooks/Chromeboxes are users of both of these services and it would initially provide a strong support system for both products because more buyers would be exposed to them. I’m happy to see that they will finally have a camera app and a calculator app. It’s about darn time! ;)

  3. Reader, definitely.

  4. It will be really helpful to have a To Do application, integrated with Calendar, Mail and the different doc types, that sends reminders, shows status, etc.
