6 Things Google Doing This Season to Sell More Chromebooks

Holiday season is here and Chromebooks are getting ready for the celebration. How is Google preparing it’s baby for the first holiday season of its life? Let’s take a look.

1. Price Cut!!!

Yes, the most important thing was the price cut of course. Amazon.com has dropped the price ofAcer Chromebook Wifi to $299.99. You may still see the old price ($349) when you visit the website, but once you add it to the shopping cart, you will see the new price.

This move attracted a lot of attention towards the Chromebooks family. Pricing of Chromebooks used to get a lot of criticism from the time they were launched. Even though this move will not resolve everyone’s concerns, it certainly made many more people to consider Chromebooks.

2. New Samsung Chromebook

Samsung has introduced a new version of the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook which is available for $349.99. This has same specs as the original Wifi Chromebook by Samsung, save for the color. The product description calls it “black” where as the original Chromebook is “Titan Silver”.

Samsung’s design was the preferred by consumers than Acer’s “dry” design of their Chroebook, but Samsung Chromebooks were costly. But here is a slightly affordable Chromebook from Samsung with the same design and specs. I hear some more people saying “yaay!!”

3. Six New Awesome Video Ads!!

I was blown away by the simple and interesting concept behind these 6 videos. I was struggling to pick my favorite out of these 6. Backing up the Chromebook or Virus protection? Which one is your favorite? Click here to watch all of them.

4. Samsung Offering 7-Day Chromebook Series 5 Test Drives

Samsung is offering a test drive option for Chromebooks.” If you want to check one out, you’ll need to provide a government issued ID and have a credit card on hand—the credit card provides security just in case you decide that you want to keep it, for which you’ll be charged $449.” wirtes pcmag.com.

Chromebooks are a new way of thought. It takes a while for people to get used to this new idea and be ready to adopt it. I am sure this test drive program will attract more people in to.

I saw someone calling Chromebooks “Best computer for people who have fear of computers”. This is computing without the headaches that come with it. People will definitely notice it.

5. Software Updates

Google has updated Chrome OS stable version with the new Login UI and revamped New Tab Page. This makes Chrome OS a little more attractive. Yes, it is still just Chrome, with no glossy glassy graphics, but still, design is how it works, not just how it looks, remember?

6. Advt. On Your New Tab Page

We have seen Google’s efforts to promote things on Chrome’s new tab page (something many of you does not like). This season, Google will invite you to checkout Chromebooks if you are using Chrome.

Noticed this on your Chrome? I’ve got some screenshots (thanks to wifey for this)

Anything that I missed?

Is Google trying to get rid of all the old models? Do you believe there will be a new updated Chromebook soon with the new Intel processor as was discussed I believe back in July or so? I noticed Best Buy no longer has any of the Titan Silver colors left on their website.

Just wondering as I’m debating if I should purchase one again. I bought one from Amazon (3G version from Samsung) awhile ago but returned it, as needed the money for other things at the time. Now the new $350 price is very intriguing.
