An Android Browser That Looks and Works Like Google Chrome

Waiting for your favorite browser to show up in the Android Market? Well,  I’ve got something that you will definitely want to try. Ninesky is a browser app for Android that looks and works like Google Chrome.

Looks and works like Chrome, it is not Chrome nor does it follow the same philosophy of Chrome.

“Dashboard” or the The New Tab Page

Ninesky has a new tab page. They are calling it “Dashboard” It is populated with your most visited websites. It might be useful if you use this browser as your primary browser for some time.

Tabbed Browsing – Yes, You got that!

Ninesky has multi tab system with the looks of Chrome. The icon for opening a new tab looks that of Chromium browser.

Incognito Browsing ? Yes, Sort Of!

There is an option in settings  that will disable history and cookies tracking etc to give private browsing. This gives the Incognito effect for your Android browsing.

Search From The Address Bar

One of the hi-lights of Chrome, searching right from the addressbar, or the omnibar, is available here too. But for some reason, I see a “Search” box as well.

My Experience With Ninesky

It sure had a “feel good factor” because it looks similar to Chrome. However, page loading time was worse than my default Android browser.

Having multiple tabs open in a small screen is not something I enjoyed. Optimizing webpages for mobile browsing was handy, and the “Safe website” alerts too was good.

Integrated bookmarks, downloads, extensions and reading list are nice features to have. It gives Ninesky an upgrade from being a browser to a platform. Do try them out and let me know how you feel!

I will continue my wait for official Chrome Browser for Android! Stay tuned for more news on this!

Do you realize that there already is a browser that looks and functions like Chrome, and is a thousand times better than this? It’s called Dolphin Browser HD.

have you actually tried it? Dolphin HD is nice enough and has more extensions but Ninesky is pretty good.

He’s right, Dolphin HD is exactly the same, only it is faster and has an omnibox.

    Web Sockets support?

We can squabble all day over what UI is best, but it’s the technology supported that is most important.
