There Is An Easter Egg in Your Cr48 – Can You Find It ? #Chromebook

by Dinu on 02/06/2011

“It’s been over six months. How come nobody has found our easter egg?” Bill Richardson, a Google Employee posted this today, on the Chrome Book pilot group. “Subject says it all. Happy hunting” he added.

Well, with that he “set the cat amongst the pigeons” as one of the users on the forum mentioned. Yes, the whole pack of CR48 users are hunting for Chrome OS Easter Egg that Google sent to them 6 months back. Will they be successful ? What could it be ?

No one has a clue yet. So, alerting all Cr48 users here, go ahead and dig it, let the world know if you find something interesting !!!

Unless Google wants to drop a hint on this one, I’ll sit back and wait for Francois to find it out for us. :)

Looking forward to the news.

I don’t own a Cr-48. Just brainstorming.
So, could it be a cloud storage locker or something?

Dinu June 4, 2011 at 5:26 am

I don’t have CR48 .. but I am digging my Chromium OS device to see if I can find something :P

Bill Richardson wrote in the thread:
“Cr-48. That should tell you something right there.”

in reply to:
“Is it Cr48 only or can I find something on Chromium OS too?”

humm, try opening 48 tabs for me ? :D

Cougar Abogado June 4, 2011 at 5:47 am

I hear that. I tried typing cr into my omnibox and beta crosh entry 48 times each. No dice.

Dinu June 4, 2011 at 5:47 am

and may be chrome://48 or chrome://cr48 etc ?

Cougar Abogado June 4, 2011 at 5:57 am

Hmm. I tried the two you suggested, along with chrome://cr (repeated 48 times) and chrome://cr48 and chrome://cr-48, all with 48 repetitions. :’(

I’m sure some engineering genius will figure it out over the weekend.

Dinu June 4, 2011 at 6:24 am

ouch !! :( will think of something else then ..

The Easter Egg has been found…. http://bit.ly/jRDWtO

Cougar Abogado June 4, 2011 at 4:01 pm

Is this a link to the entire thread, BG76x?

Next time, I’d appreciate a link like one of these: a) http://wellsb.com/post/6161876985/how-i-cracked-the-cr-48-easter-egg or b) https://groups.google.com/d/msg/chrome-notebook-pilot/hGf-vdxGGEA/GZJ-C4YG7TgJ

Regardless, thanks for the update.

Dinu, I told you some engineering genius would locate this easter egg and before the end of the weekend!

So, the Cr-48 easter egg is a blue screen of death (because Google specifically claimed Chrome OS would _lack_ a blue screen of death: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QRO3gKj3qw&feature=player_detailpage#t=120s, see about 2:11), correct?

The main reasons I like using Chrome OS are, indeed, right around 2:00 of the video linked above. Now, I’m mainly hoping my Cr-48 will some day get close to as fast as Chrome on my HP — although I doubt it.

Perhaps restarting 48 times? :)

Dinu June 4, 2011 at 9:28 pm

I think all of them have already done that :)
