Acer Increased Chromebook Price to $379 With No Announcement

by Dinu on 12/06/2011

Acer increased Chromebook prices from what was announced during Google IO 2011. I didn’t notice it until Dave told me about this. Thank you Dave !

So, the price for Acer Chromebook was announced as $349 for the Wifi model, ( watch this here. ) and when we look at the Amazon’s Chromebook Store, the price for the same model is $379. That’s $30 difference, but no announcement. See the Acer Cromia Chromebook (Wi-Fi) on Amazonchromebook Acer Increased Chromebook Price to $379 With No Announcement .

The price for the 3G model is $449 but that was not announced during IO. So, anyone planning to buy Acer Chromebook here ?

If I were to ever buy a Chromebook (and it would only be to replace my CR-48) it would probably be a Samsung.

Well good job Acer, thanks for making the decision on which Chromebook to get that much easier. At a much lower price the not as pretty Acer still had a fighting chance, but now with this price change it’s just not worth it. Samsung Series 5 Chromebook all the way!

I agree !! :)

I had previously thought I was going to get the Samsung, but the Acer has a higher quality screen and an HDMI port. I just don’t understand why the Samsung doesn’t have an HDMI port. That is really a deal-breaker for me. I know that the ACER doesn’t look quite as nice, but I’d rather deal with that than have a nicer looking machine that doesn’t have a vital feature like HDMI.

I agree with Tom, HDMI is a must. Either way, I would not BUY a chrome computer, ever. For the same price I can get much much more functionality from about any other OS on better hardware for less.

My problem is Acer is developing a record for hardware failures as of late, which would also make me nervous.
