It’s fun and exciting times ahead for Chrome OS fans like you and me. Here is the latest item to the party of secrets we celebrated around Chrome OS. An official Netflix plugin is in the making !

chrome news Sssh !! Netflix Is Coming To Chrome OS

Netflix Chrome OS

Thanks Clint for this tip ~

Netflix support is something people have been asking for on forums and feature requests. Well, it took a while for Chrome OS team to get things in place. Now they are ready to test this new plugin, just in time for the announcement for commercial devices.

A review created a week go says this “Update netflix version in chromeos plugin check“, This plugin check is included in all devices including Alex, but not on CR48 ( Was that a step to keep that from leaking ? ) This plugin is now part of the few included in Chrome OS, PDF, Google Talk plugin etc.

Okay guys, back to hunting for more stuff for you all !!

Even as a non-Netflix subscriber, I have a high opinion of the service, based on what I’ve heard and read. On the other hand, I’m somewhat concerned about this development. Does this mean certain content providers and websites will be hosed with Chrome OS users because Chrome OS would require a special plugin for them, and they’re unable to reach a partnership deal with Google?

I’m very interested to see how this plays out and what it will mean for the platform, on a larger scale.

I think many will be very impressed with this scoop. Congrats on this one, Dinu, in addition to the other nuggets you’ve been digging up!

I’ve been wondering, Dinu, do you think the Netflix plugin will come _bundled_ (that is to say, pre-installed) on Chrome OS devices, or simply installable?

I see a large distinction between the two categories, akin to Google’s partnering with Entaglement and Poppit for web apps, which come/came pre-installed.

They are not really bringing any partnership with netflix now, they just made Chrome OS ready to play netflix videos, without silverlight … I believe it will come as an inbuilt feature …
