Another Awesome Chromercial ! “Dear Hollie” #video

by Dinu on 31/05/2011

Remember the cool video ad by Chrome team “Dear Sophie” ? Here is a similar one they created for their promotions in UK.

Like it ? This one is part of Chromebook’s June launch in UK on “Three” network.  Did you get to watch this on TV yet if you are from UK.. ?  Do you hear people talking about this there ?

No, I haven’t seen it yet. I have noticed that Microsoft has started advertising Windows 7 again on the radio. The ad doesn’t particularly have a message, it just reminds people to get a new one before Chrome OS is out.

There hasn’t really been much talk of Chrome OS yet, but bear in mind that we didn’t hear much about the iPad 2 until it was launched. I think BBC News (the most watched news programme/channel) doesn’t like over-coverage on new products, since it is supposed to be impartial. Sky News doesn’t do technology, so we have to rely on other things to get the message across (usually other people and adverts). Google want to be getting this ad out a bit before the launch. Not too far though, no-one likes to see the same ad for a long time.

Two UK readers of this blog called James? Anyway, this James has still yet to see it. Where did you see it?

Oh, I’ve seen it now. It’s quite good, but I’m not sure as an advert. Surprisingly, it does not mention Chrome OS, Chromebooks or anything like that. And you’ve got to know the Chrome logo for it to advertise that.

I notice that Microsoft have stepped up their advertising. Their’s is kind of the opposite, where the product is pushed but in a rather boring way. They say ‘upgrade now’, or something like that.

I am doing this for my daughter Zara. I’ve also created a video of it similar to the google chrome advert. Check it out below:
