Google has introduced  a new Chrome extension called “Chrome to Phone†that allows you to send ‘links and information’ from your computer running Chrome to your Android phone.
You can send a web page, map, video, or phone number using the extension to your mobile. Download the Chrome to Phone extension here
What if you have an iPhone, not an Android phone ? Prowl extension brings this feature to iOS for you. You’ll need to sign up on the official Prowl website first and generate an API key for yourself. Once you’ve got that, grab the extension and add your key in its options screen. After that, simply click the cat icon in your browser actions area to send a push notification to your iPhone of iPod touch via the Prowl app ($2.99 in the App Store).
If you’re not familiar with Prowl, you might be asking why it costs $2.99. It’s actually a very powerful little app and can redirect notifications from a ton of other sources — including Adium, Transmission, Google Voice, Twitter, Drupal, WordPress, and many others — so it’s well worth the price if you like being kept in-the-know while you’re out, writes DownloadSquad.com
I will keep this link saved, I am dying to buy Motorola Droid 2. Wish me good luck guys !
I’m looking forward to testing this out for my new Droid phone that I got just a week ago. One thing to keep in mind, I learned, is that the Android is not unlike your pc. Meaning, be careful not to have too many apps installed and be aware of which ones are starting up with the phone, otherwise it can get bogged down and barely work. I learned the hard way and eventually just reset my phone to factory settings and started from scratch. It’s all good now and I love my phone!
good to know !!!! I am sure this info will be really helpful for everyone around here !!
btw, did you find any cool free chrome related app ?
I’ve stayed pretty minimal with the apps, but one that I use constantly is the Google Voice app! I’m a huge Voice user and the app redirects all of my outgoing calls to my Voice account and also does the same for my text messages! Pretty cool because obviously all of those are free and of course they’re all coordinated with my Gmail account, etc.
Another app that I like is more for fun. It’s the Google Sky app, which allows you to point the phone up to the sky and see the stars and constellations in real-time!
Oh yes, the other app I find useful is Google Maps / Navigation. Again, quick and easy driving/walking directions and it has built-in satellite recognition of where you currently are (you can turn that off, though). And of course, most of the Google apps are already pre-installed.
Two more things.. the voice-recognition browsing feature works flawlessly and I suggest that anybody who is considering a Droid, get one with a slide-out keyboard. It definitely saves a lot of time and frustration!
cool man ! looks like its soo much fun to have an android phone … can’t wait to get one !!!!!!!!!!!
