3 Extensions Using Google Chrome’s Context Menu

by Dinu

Two days back I told you all about the new Context Menu API that has been added to Chrome for developers to explore and win some goodies for extensions they build using this feature. Context menu is the menu you get when you right click a webpage.

Now, thanks to The Google System, a popular blog about Google, I can share three extensions that use this new context menu.

You can try these extensions if you use Chrome 6 Beta, Chrome 6 Dev Channel, a Canary build or a recent Chromium build.

Tweet Right

Share images, links, webpages and selected text on Twitter.com right from the context menu (Right Click Menu). This way, you can get reduce the number of icons on your Google Chrome Toolbar up there.

The extension will work in the background and will be visible when you right click any page giving you option to tweet the page.

Tweet the Page, Text or Image !

ce the extension is still under development. If you right click on an image, it will give you two options in a submenu, you can either tweet the page URL, or tweet only the image URL. Or, tweet the image.  The extension is available here.

Imgur Uploader

This extension creates a context menu item when right-clicking an image which allows you to upload the image directly to the image hosting site Imgur with just two clicks! You can install the extension from here.

This extension generates a QR Code from an URL or selected text through a right-click menu. It’s very handy for sending links or short texts to your mobile phone with a QR code reader. Options are under development (for example custom QR code size). You can install the extension from here.

Stay Tuned For More

More context menu based extensions are in the making. I will try to bring the best for you to try when this feature comes to Chrome stable versions. So, bookmark these extensions to try them out ! Hopefully we will see a blog post from Google too, featuring some awesome extensions of this kind, when they push this feature to stable version.
