Have you noticed that I was silent about Chromoting when it was making news all over the web last week or so ? Hmm, I was actually waiting for something for real, something more than an email from a random guy. ( well, he was not so random, I agree )
Looks like we have started seeing signs of Chromoting on Chromium. Last night, an internal Chromoting plug-in appeared in the Chromium snapshot builds.
In all likelihood, the plug-in will function like the RDP or VNC apps most of us are familiar with, allowing access to applications on a server or remote desktop via LAN or WAN connections. When news of Chromoting first broke, there were a lot of “So I have to leave my Windows computer running to use the programs on it?” which is, of course, the case.
But Chromoting probably isn’t targeted at the average home user. It’s aimed at enterprise use, where terminal services and applications served over remote connections are much more common. Reports DownloadSquad
We will have to wait for more ! Stay tuned. Btw, what do you think Chromoting is ? Guessing time guys !!
Facebook has hired Matthew Papakipos, the engineer who started and lead both the Google Chrome OS project and the Chrome WebGL GPU hardware project for hardware-accelerated graphics.
He says that Google Chrome OS is in a good shape now, and its time for something new. How will Google take it, I am not sure since Chrome OS is something that they have big plans for. What do you think ?
For us, those crazy people waiting for the release of Chrome OS, this gives another strong signal that we are close to the launch date.
Have you started saving up for your Chrome OS Netbook ?
