How to Limit the number of Tabs that you can Open on Chrome

by Dinu

This may sound little strange to many of you, but I believe that this might be useful for many others. I am talking about an extension that will set a limit on the number of tabs that you can open on Google Chrome.

This extension limits the number of tabs(default is six). You can change the number of tabs that you want to keep in option.

This is a pretty new extension in the extension gallery for Google chrome, so I do not have any idea about how many people are using this extension. I should come back this page and check it after few weeks.

Install This Extension from Here

So, my question for you all, is this extension, useful for you in anyway ? Is there any particular task that will be come easier for you, with this extension ?

Let me know ! we have  a comment form, or you can email me on hello @ offlineblog.net

What happened when I open 1 more tab, than I allowed?

I don’t going use this extension, I end my session always with 20 tabs open. 3 times a day. Why should I allow me to have a maximum of 6 tabs open?
It is true their must be a better tab manager, but not what I had some time ago, an extension with a button what give me a vertical list of my tabs.
I was thinking about a grouping thing, witch gives chrome an extra bar. What isn’t really good for the way chrome is designed.

*sorry for my eventually bad english, I am dutch.

I think its great, helps me use the tabs more effectively, and keep my sessions under control. Thanks!

Excellent idea! I just did a research on multitasking and how it hinders the ability to concentrate. I believe limiting the number of tabs that can be opened simultaneously would help one concentrate better. Going to try it out thanks!

Yes, I was looking for it for a while.
Tabs and multitasking is the worst productivity idea in usability history.

It is not required to do multitasking or use multiple tabs ;)

this add on should require a password or else it’s useless

sounds like a good idea, but not always required, you can drop a comment for the developer on the extension gallery :)

This is PERFECT!! My autistic son had well over 30 tabs open the other day with quite a few of them playing videos…. he maxed out the computer at 100%, he was so mad but just didnt understand why the computer was locked up. Thank you, I will try this extension!! :D

From a productivity point of view this is awesome. I am going to experiment with 2-3.

I’m going to hope that this still works! It’d be useful for me because sometimes I leave chrome up while I run off to work and come home to HUNDREDS of tabs opened… Not sure how, maybe a button sticks, or something, but it kills me.

Very usefull indeed! I always keep running into performance issues, caused by each tab requiring about 30MB of memory!! Thanks :)
