Google Chrome Linux

I know, I am reporting this very late, for again, I cant miss this news, even though I am late. So, here it goes, if you are yet to read about this.

Google Chrome for Linux is finally ready for beta. Like the Windows version, it’s fast, secure, stable, simple, extensible, and embraces open standards like HTML5.

I have been using Google Chrome on Ubuntu, from the day one of the Development version release. It was fun, and recently I got flash and extensions working on it. So, beta release is not much of an excitement for me personally, but this marks another milestone in the Chrome’s Story chrome news Google Chrome Linux Beta

For those who waited for the release of Beta release, of Linux to try it, here is the download link.  Enjoy and come back to give feedback as comments !

Do not worry about the beta label on google products, ok ? they keep things on beta for a looooong time. So, start using Chrome for Linux today.

For all the great things Google does, it’s really hard to understand why they dig in their heels and flat refuse to simply add a feature or item people want. In iGoogle it was the wasteful addition of entire sidebar for the tabs. People came up with workarounds and kludges so it went back to 3 tiny tabs along the top. But complaints to the feedback site got messages like “We think this fits the modern web browsing experience better and you’ll agree after using it a while.”

Now it’s the refusal to add a bookmark drop down button in Chrome. I did a quick web search, there are complaints about it everywhere. And the addition to the launcher of –bookmark menu switch won’t work in the Linux Beta.

It’s really hard to understand exactly why a simple little thing is so intractable. It’s back to Firefox and Opera for me.
