Stable Google Chrome for Mac and Linux : Are we there yet ?

There is a new development about Google Chrome for Linux and Mac. ReadWriteWeb found a change in the Google Chrome privacy policy that hints to the release of Google Chrome for Linux and Mac operating systems.

The Change.

OLD:

The Privacy Policy below applies only to Google Chrome for Windows. For the Developer channel releases on other platforms see the privacy policies for Mac OS X and Linux .

NEW:

The Google Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information when you use Google’s products and services

On Google Chrome for Windows, You can configure Google Chrome to not send cookies to Google or other sites as explained here. Google Chrome for Mac and Google Chrome for Linux currently do not allow this level of configuration.

So, we have a strong reason to believe that release date for the stable version of Google Chrome for Linux and Mac is near.

Is it a BIG news ?

It is a big news for people who do not use the development version of Google Chrome for Mac and Linux. However, for those who do not use these, will be really excited to see this news. There is another group who can be happy about this. When they released Chrome development version for Linux, it was only for Ubuntu users. So, users on other Linux distributions like Fedora was left out. This time when the stable version of Linux Chrome is out, we should expect Chrome for all distributions on Linux.

PLUS, I believe that Google will bring the Extensions and Theme support for all platforms Windows, Mac and Linux, to the stable versions. It’s going to be REAL BIG !!

  1. Google is NOT a company I am fond of… I mean they are a VERY big company now and really… TOO BIG for their own good!
Google has become known as a ‘spy-happy’ company by the intelligent, computer literate and know that Google is one company to stay AWAY from, Free or Not!

They have hired individuals who make their living as a spy in governmental agencies and the likes to help them in their efforts of spying on us.

In fact, that is what their Google toolbar is all about! It digs in to your info on your computer and tracks just about everything you do online. Google also NEVER DELETES ANYTHING anymore and keeps all data they ever collect on you or anyone.

CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT KIND OF POWER GOOGLE WILL HAVE WHEN MANY FOLKS DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THEIR Operating System????!!!

    WOW!!!

People… come on… DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!!! As my father always told me as a kid, THINK before your act!!!

Now-a-days, I think, research and then act accordingly.
If you need to respond to something immediately, go with your gut feeling, but make sure you are reading it correctly by practising using it on all your decisions.

    Google CHURNS MY guts!!!

Good Luck in whatever you choose to do!!

  2. Yeah Yeah Yeah… And I guess Microsoft is better?

  3. @ Bob

its not because MS is better, its because Google decided to make chrome for MS first :P

  4. “CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT KIND OF POWER GOOGLE WILL HAVE WHEN MANY FOLKS DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THEIR Operating System????!!!”

Quick guys! Tin foil hats at the ready here comes the apocalypse!

Honestly, even if they do have all this information what do you think they are going to do with it? “OH noez! Targeted advertising, you devil! Stay back!”.

Aside from the fact that I could not give a crap is some anonymous computer is spying on me to correlate statistics on my demographic profile and the sort of websites I visit, they have these little things called “privacy laws” and they would be unwise to cross the line.

I like the products that Google offer, they are high quality and come from some of the greatest Minds in the world. Have you even seen one of their product presentations? These nerds are on another level entirely. I’m not going to let some paranoid delusion stop me using the fruits of their labour.
